Art Director/Designer
My early career is pretty typical of many graphic designers and creative managers: start with a small company and move on to bigger companies. Onwards and upwards, right? On this path, I was working as part of an in-house creative group for an NBA team and huge sports and entertainment venue, but I was simply not getting any creative satisfaction out of it. (Don’t get me wrong, this was really cool, and I enjoyed many aspects of it.) After 8 years of working for this organization, I realized I was losing sight of the ideas and creative freedom I cherish. I spent the majority of my 20’s and mid-30’s bringing other people's dreams to life, and I didn't want to spend double that time doing the same.
My lucky roll started with a simple graphic sticker that I posted around NYC when I would ride the subway all around the five boroughs. The sticker was a self-portrait of me using a MacBook Pro while on the toilet. It was inspired by the idea that, creatively, I was doing shit. The shitty part was that I was basically running in place. I realized that the ideas we hold dear to our hearts are very important and we’ve got to move on them. Have Fun. Inspire Others. Take Risks. That commitment has led me toward greater self-actualization. It is what keeps me young and vibrant. When I established my own brand, I stayed true to that concept and Royale Threads came to be.
